What makes us different.

Transform was built from the ground up around remote workflows and distributed talent, turning the challenges of a new post-production landscape into our strength. We collaborate with all stakeholders and talent across time zones simultaneously, and our philosophy with talent means that we pair the best talent for the job without any misaligned incentives.

We are solutions-oriented and eschew large offices and exclusive talent for flexibility and value. We strive to build long-term partnerships with both our partners and talent.

FAQ

How do the live sessions work?

We use a live streaming room that is available anytime from the same shareable link. Think of it as a virtual room you can “walk into” anytime. It’s low-latency, high-quality, and color-accurate. You can video chat face-to-face with the artist and supervise the work via one easy-to-use link. No plugins or downloads required.

is the experience good for our clients & stakeholders?

We value hospitality and curate an experience that’s very similar to attending an in-person session. From being greeted at the door to wrapping things up - we’re here to show you and/or your client a great time.

Is remote the only option?

While we love remote post sometimes in-person really is the only option for some projects. We have an office in Austin with suites for sound, color, and edit that clients come in to all the time. We also can send talent in-person to you - ask us about how we did this on UPS

Do you only do editorial?

Nope! We are the finishing vendor for many projects and clients. Our provides plugs into outside projects and provides services al-la-carte as well.

What talent do you have?

We work with talent from all over. Three editors are currently on the roster, and they are some of our most talented and easiest to work with editors around. We also work with many other editors and would love to show you some options for your project.

What sort of deals do you have with your talent?

If you are an editor or other post-professional and are interested in working with us please reach out. Our agreements are unique to each person but all revolve around our value of Talent Freedom. See #23 on our shared values.

How we started

Hey There -

I’m John Monroe, the EP/Post Supervisor here at Transform. We are a remote edit house that connects agencies, brands, and creators with post talent from anywhere to make great content.

For a bit of context - Transform was born out of BL&S. That’s the production company I co-founded with Luke Lashley in 2018. We launched Transform as a separate company after developing a better way to do post. A way that’s aligned with our values and provides our clients with a better product and experience.

This discovery happened mostly out of necessity. It was March 2020, and we had to go remote. Like the rest of the industry, we found some not-so-great remote editing solutions that were functional, but clunky. We didn’t love it, but we were working again, and that’s what mattered at the time. I’m sure you can relate.

When in-person sessions came back, and clients/editors returned to the office, we couldn’t help but think remote post had the potential to change how we worked entirely. If we were being honest with ourselves, we weren’t excited about going back to the “old way” of doing things.

We believed that (if we could smooth out the kinks and make things more client/talent-friendly), remote post would allow us to offer a broader range of talent, better scheduling, and more competitive pricing. Most importantly, it would allow us to give talent a more healthy and sustainable work/life balance.

Fast forward a couple of years, and our remote workflows were super smooth. Low latency, high fidelity, color accurate, and client-friendly. We made things happen for clients like UPS and MTV that would have otherwise been impossible if we were only working in person. It seemed like a natural next step to spin off a separate company and go all-in on remote post.

So, that’s where we are now. Today, I remain a partner at BL&S, but the two companies operate separately, and my attention is dedicated to building Transform. The two companies share a studio in Austin and some of the same staff. If our connection with a production company is confusing or concerning, I would encourage you to check out our shared values (especially #6 and #11) to get a bigger understanding of what drives us.

It’s been a thrilling experience so far, and Transform is just getting started. Most of all, we are excited to remain at the forefront of remote post-production, and we feel a deep sense of responsibility to deliver our clients and talent the best post-experience they have ever had.

You can always contact me directly if you have any questions or just want to chat - I am obsessed with this trade and will bend your ear if given the chance.
