Conflict is easy to come by at the intersection of arts and commerce. Language can quickly become adversarial. Bidders strategizing against RFPs, producers “picking their battles” and “ not dying on this hill”, etc... This adversarial view of projects is no fun for anyone and it also makes the creative worse.
We always operate as if we are on the same team and we work hard to earn and keep the trust of our partners. With an attitude of trust and collaboration, here are some thoughts on ways that we come in peace.
We don’t just ask so that we can set our bid to the highest number allowable. We like to know what budget you are targeting so that we can recommend the best solution that fits your needs.
If you or the client has an anxiety about something, let us know early, and we will work together to ensure it’s not a problem.
What is an emergency?
If there is an emergency we will 100% take care of it, but we ask that you use this power with great responsibility. When everything is an emergency nothing is, and the build-up of quick fixes can cause major issues down the line.
Being in a creative field means there is rarely an objective ‘right’ or ‘wrong’. If a problem comes up, let’s identify what happened and make a plan of action together. Pointing fingers and ‘per my last emailing’ isn’t productive - we approach problems with a solution mindset.
We are all dedicated to our craft and find inherent meaning in doing good work. In fact, we almost named the company Good Work… but that’s another story.
